I just wanted Fall today
I just wanted Fall today
by third year Brantley Jenkins
I just wanted Fall today;
It’s the middle of October,
A month of perfect weather
Chill breeze – warm teas –
Nestled up with a book
Covered in crisp air –
Hidden away in my nook.
Or, at least, I should be –
I just wanted Fall today
But Summer is here to stay.
It’s mid October, Georgia –
(Just in case you didn’t know)
Mid-sixties are still eighties.
I love your fall, O’ Georgia,
Flannels – hoodies – sweaters –
Comfort in blankets – teas
(Both hot and cold) –
But summer is just so sweaty.
I just wanted Fall today,
But Summer is here anyways,
At least it will be bright all day.
