Team usa in the 2024 paris paralympic games

The Paralympic Games have officially concluded this year. Team USA finished third overall with 105 total medals, 29 of which are gold. So, who are some of the top performers? We’ll let you know.

By third year Brantley Jenkins

Well, trackstar Hunter Woodhall received widespread media attention earlier this summer. His wife, Tara Davis-Woodhall, won gold in the women’s long jump competition, and immediately ran over to Hunter and jumped into his arms. The two had a memorable celebration in the Stade De France when Hunter seemed almost more excited for Tara’s victory than she was. Now, Hunter is also celebrating his own victory in the men’s 400m!

The men’s wheelchair basketball team was in a good position to medal this year, and medal they did. Wheelchair basketball legend Steve Serio is one of the flag bearers this year. With this win in Paris, they are the first country to win three years in a row.

A newcomer to Team USA, Abbas Karimi will compete in his second Olympics after debuting in Tokyo 2020. He was originally born in Afghanistan and competed on the refugee team in Tokyo. Since then, Karimi has gained US Citizenship, and he represented the country in this year's games in swimming.

Jessica Long, the second most decorated US Paralympian, competed in her sixth Paralympic Games. She won two medals in the pool bringing her career total to 31 (including 18 gold).

Matt Stutzman made history as the first armless archer to win a Paralympic gold medal. Jeremy Campbell set a new Paralympic record in discus, earning him his fourth gold in the event, and Noelle Malkamaki broke her own world record in shot put.

The next Olympic and Paralympic games will be held in Los Angeles, California in 2028. In the meantime, the winter games are coming up in 2026 in Italy.
