November Stroll Before the Autumn Rain

November Stroll Before the Autumn Rain

by fourth year Meghan Hawley

Burnt leaves rain down like feathers in the air

For foliage to crunch beneath my sole

Orange light beams pass through sections of your hair

As we stroll side by side and all is whole

I breathe a breath of civil twilight breeze

Crisp evening air flows in through my soft lung

As we walk through the month before the freeze

Which dripping leaves from the tree branches hung

Paved path meanders flush along the creek

Leaves float past like ships going to the sea

The day sinks as you tug upon my sleeve

And silver moon to rise above the tree

We venture home ere drizzle starts and light

A cozy flame to keep us warm at night
