Sitting Pretty

by Ostara Maharaj

Darling, don’t take up too much space.

Compose yourself with the delicate crystals of sugar

Sprinkle in the subtle hint of spice

But if you’re inclined to pour in bitterness,

Dont.

Feisty doesn’t taste very good.

Exceptions to the “don’t take up too much space” rule:

Under him (in his bed, on your knees, etc.)

These exceptions should be enacted in limited doses. Slut.

Make sure he knows what's behind it all (clothes, makeup, thoughts not included)

Avoid those big bulky words!

We all know you don’t know what they mean.

And you ever feel down in the dumps, smile just a little more.

A pretty girl like you shouldn’t pout so much.

Give them a good performance.

With the delicate brush strokes of his ego,

we want to make ourselves as small as possible.

Don’t take up too much space.

The Divine Feminine

Take up space.

Let them hear you shout the music of your brilliance.

They may wince at the chorus as you belt “i know how to do this”.

So let them.

Allow the colors of your soul to spill into the world;

let yourself paint the universe.

Should you find a feeling so intense it must overflow you,

don’t hold back the droplets;

let your tenderness water the ground below you, fertilizing the soil you stand on.

Cry the tears of growth;

from them, you will flourish soon.

Be volatile,

Be ruthless,

Be as bitter as your heart desires

So when the predatory world tries to swallow you,

It will be forced to spit you out.

Scribble your rage in every direction;

let its lines be sharp and jagged

so when they try to step on you,

they find their feet splintered.

Sanction the femme flames of frustration

to ignite their sails

as you dance on the burning deck.

Should they grow tired of it, that’s on them.

If to be free is to be crazy,

Let yourself go mad.

Darling, please take up space.
