The Edge of the Past

The Edge of the Past

second year anna van eekeren

I stand on the edge overlooking,

The place of all things that are no more.

Of taken lives and desolate buildings,

These are the remains of the war.

The civilization that we once knew,

Is rendered to dust and lost memories.

Destroyed by our own selfish thoughts that grew,

And our craving for necessities

The age of man has drawn its final breath,

And with it vanishes the world’s loud buzz.

And shining towers leaving nothing left,

But the environment’s smothering love.

Now, Mother Nature has reclaimed the land,

The once thriving cities are in her hand.
